Previous Years' Information
The March 2017 Community Service LEADALL event was designed and implemented by the sophomore scholars who decided to have two simultaneous community service options for LEAD Scholars to work with during the event time-frame (Sunday March 5th 1-3pm).
For Caps of Love, participants sorted plastic bottle caps according to plastic grade. Caps were then donated to the Caps of Love charity which uses money from the recycled caps to purchase wheelchairs for children in need. This charity helped the environment (recycling & reusing plastic) and benefitted children in need! For more information about Caps of Love check out their website at http://www.capsoflove.com/.
The other event was writing letters for military veterans through the organization A Million Thanks. A Million Thanks asks individuals, schools, churches, businesses, and other organizations to write cards, letters, emails, and prayer messages of appreciation for our military, past and present. It is their goal to see that our military – active, reserve, and veterans – receive these messages, whether they are serving at home, abroad, or are injured in hospitals. The LEAD Scholars collectively created 236 beautiful & colorful letters for our veterans.
